Like so many folks, my career path doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense. But it's worked out well. I worked in TV news for about six years--mostly as a videographer. I had the good fortune to to do a lot of "feature stories." In the parlance of TV news, that means stories about interesting things happening out there in the world--and not stories about house fires or kids getting shot. Here's a story I did about young rowers training on the Charlies River:

Somewhere around 2009, it dawned at me that I desperately didn't want to become like most of the people in TV news (think cynical and jaded). I didn't really know what I wanted to do, and I wanted some great adventure. So I ran off to Alaska and became a kayak guide for a summer.

When I returned to Boston, I got the worst dotcom job ever. I'll skip the part where I tell you about what that job entailed, but if we ever talk, ask me about it.

From there, I landed at Monster, where I had a great 10-year run and a first-hand view of a company that rose like a Phoenix, then plummeted like a meteor. I managed to get an MBA at Babson along the way.

In part due to Babson, I got bit by the start-up bug, and I cofounded KangoGift. KangoGift allows you to purchase a gift (generally small items, usually food or desserts) and send a gift voucher for that item instantly by text message. The gift recipient then goes into one of KangoGift's partner stores and redeems the gift whenever s/he wants. KangoGift was (is) awesome--except for the part where I wasn't making money, so I had to move on.

Next up on the meandering career was working at TechTarget. TechTarget is a great place with great people, and none better than my former boss, Jeff Ramminger

I ended up getting recruited away to a company called Globoforce. In 2014, I launched an sports apparel brand called You Can't Fake Sweat, which is still up and running, but I ended up taking another job as director of product marketing at Buildium at the very beginning of 2015.
